13th March 2026
On 13th March, Yellow Ribbon celebrated the completion of its Wholeness and Wellbeing Project at Halfway House. The project was supported by a grant from the Community Foundation and their Shropshire Ambassador; Ged Kennedy was on hand to present Achievement Certificates to those taking part and to see first hand witness the benefits to the community from their grant.
The project was a transformative initiative, designed to support the unemployed who face significant barriers to traditional employment, due to past prison sentences or struggles with addiction. A range of creative wellbeing activities, tailored to reduce social isolation, and prepare for long-term employment were provided.
Included in the project were physical initiatives like walking, fitness and nutrition. Also work training and practical skills development, all tailored to help them achieve their goals and aspirations. The content of delivery of the project addressed long term behaviours and barriers to change, focused on confidence-building, teamwork, and communication.
Halfway House provided an ideal setting for the project, and Yellow Ribbon continues to offer hands-on work experience in areas such as landscaping, grounds maintenance, hospitality, and DIY restoration, helping people gain transferable skills alongside supportive mentors.
The project has empowered individuals to reframe their identity; from someone with a troubled past to someone with a promising future. Thank you to the Community Foundation for helping us in this work.
